We had a very relaxing Thanksgiving. We traveled an hour to Greg's brother Loren's home in Glendora. His parents were there as well. We did miss seeing Greg's other brother Daryl and his family. They no longer reside in California.
Around 6:30 we left and went to Scott & Juree Dexter's new home. My parents were there ands it was nice to see them.
Friday we decided to not fight the shopping crowds and do some other enjoyable things. Greg had been wanting to take the kids to Cajon Pass. He took a friend of Zachary's along. Anyway, they climb on rocks and watch the train going through. If you have driven from my parents to our home you have passed this area on the 15 freeway. I decided to do something for myself. I went to a new place called "Color Me Mine". (check it out: http://www.colormemine.com ) It is a pottery place. They were having a special the Friday after Thanksgiving that the first 20 people would get to paint for free, you just paid for the piece you wanted to paint. Usually it costs $10 to paint plus the cost of the item. I had taken the kids there on Tuesday (they were having a special of 2/$10) they chose Christmas ornaments to paint. They really enjoyed it except for Zachary he was to picky about it being perfect so I ended up finishing it for him.
On Sunday we went back down to Glendora to celebrate Grandma Book's 102nd birthday. It was nice to see all of the Book family.

A typical day in the life of Lisa Wingerd.....
I decided that maybe this would be a better way for you to stay up to date with the happenings in my life.
Greg is in the process of changing departments at work. We are looking forward to this since it means he will no longer be on call. He works in Palmdale which is an hour from home. Thankfully he does not have to fight traffic since it is all local roads instead of the freeway. He will now be working 4-10 hour days and having Fridays off. Yeah! The down side is he will be gone 12 hours from us M-Th. He plans to leave early.
We are up no later than 5:30 am these school mornings since Joshua leaves the house at 6:30. He attends High School at Hesperia Christian. (See website: http://www.hesperiachristian.org) After homeschooling him for 9 years we decided to enroll him here for 9th grade. The bad thing is the school is located 30 minutes away from our home. This year we were able to work out carpooling so I only have to pick him up from school. He is now a sophomore there and truly enjoys it. He is running on the cross country team. This Saturday they will be going to the CIF Prelims at Mt. Sac. HCS won the AGAPE league for both the Girls and the Boys teams. He is involved with the Tech team at HDC and volunteers one weekend a month. He also attends a High School small group Bible study on Wednesday nights.
Zachary is still homeschooled, he is in the 8th grade. He has become involved with the Drama team at church and will be King David this weekend for the drama in our 1st-6th program. He has also started kidsitting for twins that are in 1st grade. He really enjoys it.
He attends "Tribes" which is a Jr High small group Bible Study on Tuesday nights.
Michaela is also homeschooled and in the 6th grade. She has been starting the sleepover scene. She is involved in 2 choirs at our church. Kudos, which is a singing choir and FTS "FROM THE START" which is a choreography choir. They minister to the 1st-6th graders twice a month on the weekend.
Both Zach and Michaela are taking a science class at a home of another homeschool family on Thursdays at 1:30-3. Once a week they also are learning horsemanship. These classes are for 9 weeks; we are in the 4th. The class is about 1 1/2 hours long. She has so far taught them safety, grooming & tack. This week they actually got to ride. The lady teaching them offers this to homeschool families, she was a school teacher. It has been a great experience for them. They are the only ones there which makes it even better. She limits it to 1 or 2 children at a time.
That leaves me-well besides chauffering and teaching I am also working part time for HDC as Assistant Preschool Director. At this time I am able to work my hours around "my life as a mom". I work a total of 20 hours a week including the weekend. My responsibilities are: administrative, staffing, budget, attending meetings, overseeing 2's and 3's (we have over 200 a weekend), as well as our special needs class (Rockin Rhinos). I started this position in August after we got back from a month long family vacation trip of driving to Alaska. That was a wonderful trip! Anyway, for 6 years I was a Coordinator/Lead Coordinator for the Preschool Dept. When our director left in the spring they offered me the job. The other Assistant Preschool Director handles the 4's & K's as well as our "7" service, and curriculum for all programs. We make a great team! Our church has 4 services a weekend: Harbor: 1/Saturday 2/Sunday morning and "7": Sunday night. We have over 8,000 people that attend.
Anyway, I can't imagine not having the Lord as my strength to get up each day ready to face the daily activities.
Well I must go and start the morning of school, then work.....Maybe Greg and I can get away this evening....

Continued.....
Joshua finished out his season of Cross Country on a high note. Last Saturday they went to the CIF Prelims. He finished 3 miles with a time of 20:56 which was his personal best. The last time he ran that course in October his time was 23:54:59. Needless to say it made his day.
Zach & Michaela had fun this week mucking out the horses stalls and getting some riding time in on Mystery. They really seem to be enjoying the lessons and don't mind the work.
Greg started his new job on Monday. Even though he has been with the company for 17 1/2 years he still had to go to an all day New Employee Orientation on Monday. We are looking forward to him being home tomorrow.
Today Zach and Michaela are going to Riverside Community College to see the musical "Seussical" with the HDC homeschool group. Science class was cancelled because of it but they will still have Choir and Drama today. Zach did a great job last week as David. They were acting out the part when Samuel came to anoint him the next king of Israel. Michaela sings this weekend in Kudos.
It's time for me to leave for work......
